Virginia House Wedding Editorial

Just like on a wedding day, rain is always a possibility. A misty, rainy afternoon at The Virginia House made this editorial feel most authentic to the UK countryside and allowed us to showcase just how magical a little rain on a wedding day can be.

A nod to the end of Summer with slight Fall vibes. This stunning editorial is a blend of so many different colors and textures. Textures including glass, plaster, gold, and porcelain. And colors including hues of pinks and blues with accents of gold and peach. Our pink Italian porcelain dinner plates by Maison de Carine were part of the main inspiration for this editorial. They were colorful, unique, delicate and elegant. And I can’t think of better words to describe this day.

One of my favorite details about this shoot is that David and Mary Beth are a real engaged couple. Photographing their relationship was so natural and effortless. It made this editorial feel even more authentic!

About The Venue

The Virginia House was completed in 1928 and is a small piece of History. It’s romantic old world structure served as the perfect backdrop for this shoot. It truly makes you feel that you are in the countryside of England. Especially with the rain!

About The Fashion

Mary Beth wore a beautiful dress by Ava Laurenne Bridal which is located in Fredericksburg, VA. This dress features a delicate floral applique with detachable puff sleeves. The fit couldn’t be more perfect for our model, Mary Beth. Mary Beth also wore a long cathedral veil which was extra romantic when the wind would pick up! Our Groom, David wore a dapper suit by Alton Lane. He wore a classic white covered placket tuxedo shirt, black bow tie and tuxedo slippers.

About The Details

A note from Courtney Inghram of Courtney Inghram Floral Design : Jamie of Jamie Lynn Signature Weddings envisioned the floral hues as a nod to late Summer with tones of pink ranging from light to dark with a hint of blues. These vibrant colors really popped against the old world architecture of the Virginia House! We sourced flowers from local growers including butterfly ranunculus, scabiosa and blueberry. We also cut hydrangea and crepe myrtle from our own yards for a more natural and seasonal approach.

Our favorite design element were the pink porcelain dinner plates by Maison de Carine. When it came to the design and details, everything stemmed from those plates. The cake, floral design and stationery were all inspired by them!

Our Stationer, Dominique Alba handcrafted the beautiful leather box that held the invitation suite included with handmade plaster dipped florals.

A note from Dominique Alba : After seeing Jamie’s vision with the lovely chinoiserie china and plaster flower candles, I was inspired to include them in our stationery design. We managed to perfect the plaster work used on the invitations and matching menu cards. To protect the delicate plater flowers, we crafted handmade boxes lined with a custom printed fabric that complemented the chinoiserie design, with a sturdy leather cover and tassel detail to tie it up with the romantic, old-world design of the day.

Tips for pulling off this rainy day : Teamwork, flexibility and umbrellas! Umbrellas were key in keeping the camera gear protected for certain shots! Just like on a wedding day, it is important to be flexible when it comes to things we can not control. Being flexible with the weather and working together is when the magic really happened. Grateful for an amazing vendor team who helped bring this vision to life!
